Why True Position Needs Its Own Gauge
A hole can be perfectly round and perfectly sized and still fail inspection if it's positioned even slightly off from its specified location relative to a datum reference. A position gauge is built specifically to catch that: locating pins and reference surfaces check the feature's actual position against its allowed tolerance zone, giving a direct answer to a question that dimensional-only gauging can't address.
